Maketu Volunteer Coastguard is run by a team of dedicated volunteers who are passionate about serving their local community. They give their time freely and are on-call 24 hours a day providing search and rescue, public education and training services to the wider Maketu area.
VHF radio channel in our area is Ch01.
Primary vessel Eastpack Rescue is a 12m Robson design powered by 880Hp twin jets. Moored on the Kaituna River at the Ford Road boat ramp she is ready to respond through the Kaituna Cut.
Kohinui Rescue was launched in September 2018 and is also jet powered so is very capable in shallow waters.
