We’re excited to welcome another new regular user to the Te Puke War Memorial Hall – FIYA Dance Academy, bringing Pasifika Dance and Hip Hop to Te Puke!
FIYA – Faith • Identity • Youth • Activation – has been created from a passion for celebrating Pacific dance and giving young people a welcoming place to connect with culture, build confidence, discover their talents, have fun and belong.
Led by Natasha and Leaia, FIYA is open to everyone – you don’t have to be Pacific to join in. Whether you’re reconnecting with your roots, discovering Pacific culture for the first time, or simply love to dance, you’re welcome!
Pasifika Dance will begin with Siva Samoa, with opportunities to experience Samoan, Tongan, Cook Islands and other Pacific dance and cultures as the programme develops.
Teen & Adult Hip Hop offers another chance to get moving, express yourself, build confidence and enjoy the energy of dance.
Te Puke War Memorial Hall, Pioneer Lounge
Pasifika Dance: Mondays, 5.50pm–6.30pm
Teen & Adult Hip Hop: Mondays, 6.40pm–7.10pm
Trial classes are FREE
Dancers will also have the opportunity to work towards a FIYA Dance Showcase, celebrating what they’ve learned and sharing it with whānau and the wider community.
We love seeing our Hall used to create new opportunities for our community and can’t wait to see FIYA grow!
